Greetings, from the Swamp

So, that post I made, about all that water coming down in such a short period time? Apparently, there’s a price to paid, for finding fascination in such things.

Like, all day long soaking rains. Actually, it started out as a fairly hard rain, itself. The intersection out front full on flooded, again. Flooded to the degree that it wasn’t really safe to drive through in most cars. Had a number of trucks come through that didn’t seem to think it was worth slowing down for. Funny thing is, even though it rained, all day, the water was going down, for most of it. The rain just came down that hard, for the first few hours.

So, the yard is a bit swampy. Which doesn’t really bother me, since I never really grew out of that “fun to play in the water” phase. These days, I know how to waterproof my electronics. Though, I did have a Rough Rider that was made to go underwater, that was fun. The Radio Shack RC tank? Not so much. (not made to go in the water, I mean. I loved that stupid tank.) I did try to keep the tank out of anything deep enough to touch the hull.

For those who don’t know what a Rough Rider is; it was an 80s toy. It was just a simple motorized toy 4×4. No suspension, and the tires looked more like cartoon gears. Can’t remember if they ran on a AA or a AAA battery. They were the main competitor to Stompers, and I had a few Stompers. The Chevy Nomad was my favorite.
